I need to order my mat but not sure what would be the right size?

Plenty big.  Mine is about 40x30 hexes... Nice!

Mine is 6'x4' with 1.5" hexes; it's great!  More than enough room for a large battle, or can have two smaller games going.

Depends on how big a battle you want to play.  I have mats ranging from 3'x4' with 1.5" hexes all the way up to 8'x6' with 1" hexes.

small maps give you less room to run from torps... 
and in range of pulse lasers quicker.
